Smith Rowe injury update, Wijnaldum move, Aubameyang future uncertain, Southampton build-up

Manchester City are interested in signing Nuno Tavares from Arsenal, according to reports.

The defender joined the Gunners from Benfica for £8million in the summer.

But if City get their way, his stay at the Emirates could be a short one.

Meanwhile, Gunners legend Martin Keown has urged Mikel Arteta to help Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to help find his confidence.

Aubameyang was dropped to the bench for the Gunners 2-1 defeat to Everton on Monday following a string of poor performances.

But Keown thinks it’s upto Arteta to get the Gabon international firing again like former managers did for him when he was still playing.

However, Arteta doesn’t feel the same and told Aubameyang not to feel sorry for himself.

Asked whether the striker was struggling with confidence, boss Arteta said: “When a player is not scoring, it’s affecting his confidence, affecting the mood and probably the belief.

“But this is what you’re going to have to try to do — don’t accept it and feel sorry for yourself.”

Elsewhere, Arsenal ace Ainsley Maitland-Niles is reportedly fed up with Mikel Arteta’s broken promises and will seek a move away from the club in January.

Maitland-Niles was eager to leave Arsenal in the summer but was persuaded to stay put and fight for his place by Arteta despite Everton showing interest in the star.

However after just two Premier League starts this season, Maitland-Niles wants out, according to the Metro.
