Ian Wright makes Tottenham claim Arsenal fans won’t like

Ian Wright has claimed that Tottenham will probably make the Premier League’s top-four over Arsenal, if they can sort out their consistency, as he told Premier League Productions (16/03/22 at 10:55 pm).

The former striker added that Spurs have the firepower to secure a Champions League finish, whilst if you keep Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli ‘quiet’, then you can ‘shut us down’.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal suffered a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool, whereas Spurs won by the same scoreline at Brighton.

In truth, if the Gunners want to secure a top-four finish, then beating Liverpool isn’t top of their list, but winning games, such as the one against Brighton, is a must.

Nonetheless, this is what Wright had to say regarding the top-four race and the north London derby, which is yet to be rescheduled.

“Yes, it is. It’s one to look forward to (the north London derby when it’s rescheduled),” said Wright. “I don’t think it will disappoint too much, the north London derby, especially when there is something on it.

“Tottenham, with what the manager is trying to do, I think, they have the quality to be in there, but do they have the consistency? If they do, then they will probably make it, because of their firepower.

“We saw with us (against Liverpool) if you can keep Saka and Martinelli quiet, then you are probably going to shut us down from an attacking point of view, so we need to find other ways. Other players need to step up. We need to find more offensive power.”

Nonetheless, those in Arsenal colours won’t like Wright backing Tottenham to do the job, if they can get their consistency right.

But, in truth, they have shown for too long that it probably won’t happen.

Judging by the run they have been on, they are probably due a defeat at home to West Ham on Sunday.

The Hammers are another team scrapping it out for that golden ticket to the Champions League, but how much energy will be in their locker after their crucial knockout tie against Sevilla in the Europa League on Thursday night?
